Thalapothichil Treatment in Ayurveda | Thalapothichil Therapy

Thalapothichil treatment in Ayurveda

Ayurveda has its own culture and strategy to ensure each individual’s healthy living, as well as holistic care. It promotes physical, mental, and social health. The preservation of the three doshas, Vata, pitta, and Kapha, as well as the dhatus. The removal of dishes from the body is an important element of maintaining good health. It is hardly rocket science, but more a question of ordinary ahaar – vihaar based on Prakriti, desh, kaal, and so on.

Although shamana and sodhana are the two most often used Ayurvedic detoxification methods. Panchakarma theory, for example, is a widely applied concept not only in India but also in other international countries. It has a small disagreement depending on the course of therapy. Different locations of India have a conflict in the route of treatment in Panchkarma therapy because the 5 karmas are all twisted.

We’ll be narrowing it down to the southern culture of India, so we’re excited to learn more about thalapothichil therapy. This panchakarma technique is known in Malayalam as thala, which means “head,” and pothichil, which means “to cover something.” Thalapothichil refers to any therapeutic wrapping or cover around the head.

A paste of ayurvedic herbs blended with high medicinal value components is wrapped around the head for the required amount of time. It aids in the treatment or management of a variety of deficiencies or legitimate long-term disorders.

Thalapothichil Treatment, also known as shirolepa, is an important therapy with numerous benefits for the healthy body. Regular exposure to this therapy has resulted in good outcomes as:-

  • Allowing for normal blood flow throughout the brain
  • Stress and anxiety have been reduced.
  • Skin and hair texture has improved.
  • Resolving Sinusitis-Related Issues
  • Aids in the treatment of hypertension and migraines.
  • Dosha balance in the body promotes a healthy sleep cycle
  • Detoxifies and eliminates all vatta, pitta, and kapha dosha.
  • Increases brain activity

Thalapothichil Treatment involves applying a warm herbal paste to the scalp, which is then covered with medicinal leaves for around 45 minutes before being cleansed with lukewarm water.

Thalapothichil Therapy provides numerous advantages. But, just to be clear, let’s limit it to five diseases that can benefit from this therapy.

1.  Hypertension

According to modern science, hypertension is defined as increased blood flow, however, Ayurveda defines it as a tridosha imbalance, with vata and pitta doshas predominating. A lack of coordination between these doshas causes an excessive outflow of blood through the strotas, impacting the entire body system. Thalapothichil Treatment, also known as shirolepa, is an effective way to maintain or stabilize disturbed blood flow or hyperactive body activity.

Jatamansi, commonly known as Indian spikenard, is high in essential oils and has edible sections. Jatamansi, combined with other herbs, is used to treat thalapothichil.A paste made from additional Ayurvedic herbs such ashwagandha, vacha, Ashoka chaal, punarnava, etc. is applied to the entire head. These packs have a substantial soothing effect on the body by reestablishing its natural rhythm and decreasing blood pressure levels. It encourages all of the stabilizing elements and enables the body to function effectively.

2.  Scalp dermatitis

Our skin is the most visible portion of our bodies. Even though it is covered in hair, there is always the possibility of contracting an allergy. Continuous contact with dust, filth, harmful UV rays, hard water, and chemical treatment causes significant damage to the scalp. This causes natural moisture to be ripped away, resulting in dryness, flaky and uneven scalp, itching and redness, and sebum production in hair follicles, finally leading to hair loss.

All of these scalp-related hair problems could be managed with a regular thalapothichil therapy regimen. The use of medicated hair masks with jatamansi, shikakhai, amla, ritha, methi, and neem combined with essential oils has yielded extremely diverse results. By strengthening hair follicles, reducing hair loss, and excessive dandruff, and relaxing the mind, this cooling hair mask also helps to decrease hair loss.

3.  Psychological illnesses

Psychosomatic disorders include mental and emotional instability, fuss, anxiety, stress, insomnia, restlessness, etc. Our emotional well-being is significantly impacted by the turbulent time we are living in. Therefore, we must take care of our health. For this mental condition, Thalapothichil Treatment is used. various medicinal plants, including brahmi, vacha, kava, jatamansi, etc. By inhibiting the GABA neurotransmitters, the combined effects of all these herbs can reduce stress-related variables.

The therapeutic herbs described above have soothing effects on the brain’s sensory nerves and they soothe frantic brain activity, allowing for restful sleep. The roller coaster of mood fluctuations that come from the brain does have an unfavorable effect on the body as well, thus choosing a healthy lifestyle approach is crucial to maintaining the emotional, physical, and mental balance. The panchakarma-derived thalapothichil treatment method has demonstrated promising results in reducing the aforementioned discomfort. The use of medicated paste results in an improvement in overall body and mental coordination and efficiency.

4.  Rejuvenation

Although aging is unavoidable, there is still something we can do to age gracefully. We could choose to live a healthy lifestyle that encourages the harmony of the three doshas and a healthy body, mind, and soul. The coordination of these factors is essential for effective performance. One such natural treatment that is included in the daily routine according to Ayurveda is the Thalapothichil Treatment.

Applying a medicinal paste to the scalp encourages healthy hair development, improves skin texture, supports a healthy scalp, lessens migraine and headache symptoms, stimulates brain function, and permits the free flow of doshas to all strotas to satisfy demand. Along with dincharya, taking care of our bodies by implementing these simple practices may help extend life.

5.  Persistent sinusitis

Sinusitis is essentially an invasion of foreign substances like bacteria, fungi, or viruses in our open facial cavities like the nose and ears. Excruciatingly painful symptoms and discomfort from the sinuses can be felt all over the face, forehead, and neck as well. When given the right conditions, an undesirable organism’s attack can develop into a serious sickness. Many people use the Thalapothichil Treatment to lessen these indicators and uncomfortable effects. The accumulation of kapha and vata dosha causes fluid leakage, blocked noses, earaches, breathing difficulties, and other symptoms. If used regularly, thalapothichil treatment could manage all of these conditions.
