1. Massage and its History

Different parts of the world have created different art of providing massage. We will learn about the well-known massage practice from around the globe. You will get chance to know how the art of massage developed in different parts of the world and how do they differ from each other. Along with the theoretical knowledge, you will also get the chance to practice different form of massage during your ten days’ course of training.

2. Basic Anatomy for Massage

Massage is not simply slipping your hands over other’s body. There are various techniques involved and these techniques vary according to the body structures. A clear knowledge about the basic anatomy of the body relevant to the massage practice lay down the fundamental base for your massage practice.

Muscles, bones, joints, arteries, veins and nerves are the components of the body that are mostly influenced by the massage practice. Knowledge about the location and orientation of these structures are essential while applying massage techniques. Students will have a thorough instruction and knowledge about human body structure during the course of their training.

3. Massage Techniques

You will be learning more than 100 techniques, hand movements and pressure points.

Major Components Massage Therapy:

  • Touch – It is to bring masseur hands in contact with recipient’s body in a very skilled or professional manner. This includes passive touch, pressure and nerve compression
  • Stroke – It can be simply understood as touch in combination with motion. It includes digital stroking, palmar stroking, knuckle stroking and reflex stroking.
  • Friction – In this technique hands of masseur are rubbed over the body of recipient with a considerable degree of pressure varying with different parts of the body.
  • Kneading – Kneading is just the next term to massage. It is the procedure which basically consists of alternate and intermittent grasping or compression of the muscular tissues.
  • Percussion – It is simply a springy kind of blow given transversely to the body of receiver. It includes tapping, spatting, clapping, hacking and beating
  • Vibration – In this technique, shaking movements are transferred from the hands of masseur to the body of the recipient
  • Joint movements – Flexion, Extension, Abduction, Adduction, Pronation, Supination, Stretching, etc.
